Irma Lee of Las Cruces, New Mexico, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, January 29, 2023. She was 75 at the time of death. A regional artist born in El Paso, Texas, Irma held a degree with honors from NMSU and specialized in experiential and contemporary art works with abstract and impressionist styling. She treasured the teaching of youth art students in her home studio. The City of Las Cruces honored Irma Lee for her participation in the city's "Art On Loan" program and her support of furthering arts and culture in the community. Irma's award-winning painting "Sunshine Market" will be on display along with other works. Survivors include two sons Walter and Joseph Brian; grandchildren Alexzandra, Donovan, Angela, Michael and Regina; and brother Manuel. She was preceded in death by her parents Josephina and Manuel and her husband Walter. Wednesday, February 8, from 5:00pm to 7:30pm CST, a wake and rosary will be held at Getz Funeral Home, 1410 E Bowman Ave, Las Cruces, NM. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00pm CST. *Irma's artwork will be on display and available for purchase. Friday, February 10, 9:30am CST, Friends and family may pay their respects at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church, 100 S. Espina St, Las Cruces, NM. The Rosary will be recited at 10:00am CST, and the Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated followed by interment at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
