Jack Lanier Davis, age 76, passed away on February 10, 2014, at his home in Las Cruces, New Mexico after his battle with pancreatic cancer. Jack was born on December 23, 1937 in Oak Grove, Louisiana, to L.C. and Marie Davis. He was the youngest of two sisters and five brothers. On July 17, 1959, he married Betsy Aldom in Las Cruces. He was in the first graduating class of Las Cruces High School in 1957. He was employed with the Postal Service for 34 years. Jack loved the outdoors and all things living. He raised pecans for over 20 years, had a passion for gardening, budding trees and raising flowers. This was evident by the vegetables he raised and gave to friends, the trees he budded for his children, and the flowers he grew for his wife. He was a member of the Miranda Street church of Christ. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, his four children and their spouses, Deborah White (Richard), Jeff Davis (Angela), Kathy Dane (Jeff), and Jeremy Davis (Nikki). He had 12 grandchildren Amy Allen, Kevin, Jason and Anna White, Camille, Jay, and Haley Turner, Brian, Greg and Rachel Dane, and Daniel and Emma Davis, and three great-grandchildren Madison, Mason and Matthew Allen. He has one surviving brother, Raymond Davis. Funeral services will be Friday, February 14, 2014, at 10:00AM in the Getz Funeral Home Chapel. He will be laid to rest Monday, February 17, 2014, at 10:00 am at Chapelwood Memorial Gardens in Texarkana, Texas.
