In Loving Memory of Jaime Mata
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jaime Mata, who left us on October 13, 2026, at the age of 50 in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
Jaime lived a life that was not always easy. He faced struggles and hardships that many may never fully understand, but those struggles never told the whole story of who he was. Jaime had a heart of gold. He was the kind of man who would give the shirt off his back to a stranger, who cared deeply, and who, despite everything he went through, never stopped wanting to find his place in this world.
Those who truly knew Jaime saw the gentle soul behind his struggles. He wanted what we all want: to feel loved, accepted, and safe being exactly who he was. Life did not always give him the kindness he deserved, but he continued to carry love in his heart. He enjoyed listening to the music he grew up hearing with his dad and had a love for art and tattooing.
As we say goodbye, we choose to remember Jaime for the man he was, not the hardships he faced. We remember his kindness, his smile, his sensitive heart, and the love he gave to those around him. We wish his road had been gentler, but we find comfort in knowing that he is now at peace, free from the pain and burdens he carried in this life. May he finally know the unconditional love and rest he spent so much of his life searching for.
Jaime is survived by his devoted mother, Antonia Angel, who loved him from his very first breath; Patsy Angel, the woman he cherished as a second mother and who helped raise him with love; and his beloved aunt, Lucy Venegas (Armando), who was also an important part of his upbringing.

He also leaves behind his beloved cousins Rosario Garcia (Lupe), Angelica Hernandez (Antonio), Maria Angel, Reyna Angel (Fernando), Juanita Gonzales, and Johnny Angel (Jeanette), who grew up alongside him and shared a bond like brothers and sisters.
