Jaime Alire Saenz was born on January 7, 1957. He was 69 years when he passed on June 26, 2026. He graduated from Las Cruces High School in 1976 and earned his Associates degree in Science he then went on to have a long career in HVAC. He was a devout Catholic and a lifelong member of immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral. Jaime was the kind of man who never hesitated to lend a helping hand. Whether it was fixing something around the house or helping a friend with a project. To those who knew him, he wasn’t just the family handyman, he was everyone’s handyman. If you needed him, he was there. He was always ready to help people out and that seemed to be his mission on this earth. Jaime loved making people laugh, telling stories, and spending time with family and friends, One of his greatest passions was roasting green chili, something he took great pride in and perfected with his own special technique. He was also a devoted Washington Redskins fan!!! He rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his team. Above all, Jaime cherished his family, especially the bond he shared with his younger brother and lifelong best friend, Joe “Poyo” Sanez. He will be missed by many!
He died in his home of natural causes. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Teresa Chavez Alire and Ventura Alire and by his paternal grandparents, Juan L. Saenz and Josefina Villanueva Sanez. He is also preceded in death by his parents, Juan V. Saenz and Eloisa Alire Saenz, his brother Donaciano Sanchez, his sister Linda Saenz Paredes, two nieces, Amy Eileen Houser, and Amanda Paredes. He is survived by his siblings, Ricardo and Nancy Saenz, Gloria and Anthony Wods, Benjamin Alire Saenz, and his younger brother and best friend, Joe “Poyo” Saenz, His survivors also include his nieces and nephews, Roberto and Cali Sanez, Cynthia “Chita” Woods, Mark and Amorette Woods, John Frederick Paredes, Isel and David Mossberg, and Ivana and Alex Johnson. He is also survived by his great nieces and nephews; Isaiah, Mariah, Benico, Christian, Arika, Evon, Ezekiel, Leo, Lela, Bo, Brooks, Maya, and a great-great niece, Avani.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral on Wednesday July 22, 2026; following the praying of the rosary at 10:00 am. Funeral arrangements will be handled by Getz Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Roberto Saenz, Isaiah Gonzalez, Steve and Gavin Livas, Odin and Larry Flores. He will be laid to rest at Masonic Cemetery. There will be a reception celebrating Jaime’s life at the Fraternal of Eagles, 980 N. 17th Street. Bring your stories of Jaime!!
