James Robert Brown was preceded in death by his father, James Alexander Brown, an agriculture inspector with a station named after him on the Arizona border. His mother, Marjorie Nystrom Brown, was an artist who signed her artwork “Karen” using her middle name.

He was also preceded in death by his older brother, Robert Stewart Brown, an MSGT in the Air Force; his older sister, Jean Jakobs, who passed away in 2025 and was an elementary reading teacher; his brother-in-law, Walter Jakobs, who served in the Navy and later worked at Glendale Union High School District as a cabinet maker and in building maintenance; his sister, Susan Doe (1943–passed), who was a mother and homemaker; and his sister, Carol Dob (1936–passed), who worked as a legal secretary.

James was an avit about going gun shooting, as well as a lot of outdoors, fishing hunting those things even though he hadn’t got to do it in years he was just Lillian thrilled in that with his movies and going out to chilitos on South Main

James is survived by: His niece, Cindy Perch; her two sons, Kyle Perch and Andrew Perch; his niece, Christina Ventriglia; his nephew, Steven Jakobs; and Steven’s daughter, Diana Jakobs.

James was predeceased By James A. Brown and Marjorie Nystrom Brown

He also leaves behind friends who were like family, including special thanks to Erma Goodyear, Frank Bryce, Ryder Candelaria, Ann-Marie Goodyear, Zenaida Medina, Christopher Medina, Vincent Medina and his wife Hope Medina, Taketa Medina, Katina Medina, and an extra special thank you to Dale B. Yanez for helping with meal prep and accompanying James to medical appointments.
