James P. Grandgeorge, 82, of Las Cruces, NM, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2026, with his devoted wife, Violy, lovingly by his side and under the tender care of his healthcare team.

He was born on August 23, 1943, in Webster, Iowa, and lived a life defined by quiet strength, resilience, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. A dedicated man, James spent many years as a contractor, taking pride in every project he touched. He believed deeply in giving others a chance offering work to those who needed an opportunity and helping them build a better life. His generosity, fairness, and commitment to lifting others up left a lasting imprint on his community.

James is survived by his beloved wife, Violy; his children, Meriville, Michael (son-in-law), Zaira, Ann Margaret, Catherine and her family, Angela, Christopher, Cara, and Crystal; his grandchildren, Phillippe, Britney, and Davin; his cherished pet, Charlie II; and many others who cared for him deeply.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn; his father, Louis; and his sister, Myrtle and his pet, Charlie I.

He will be remembered for his warmth, his gentle humor, and the steady guidance he offered so freely. His presence was a source of comfort, and his love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held on June 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Getz Funeral Home. In our hearts, he lives on. Until we meet again.
