James Samuel Hughes

November 1, 1970 – June 6, 2026

James Samuel Hughes, of Keller, Texas, passed away surrounded by the love of family and friends. He was born on November 1, 1970, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and was raised in Roswell, New Mexico, where he graduated from Roswell High School in 1990.

James made his home in the Dallas–Fort Worth area beginning in 1997, where he built a life centered on faith, family, friendship, and a passion for automobiles and motorcycles. He was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and a member of Milestone Church. His faith was the foundation of his life and provided him with strength, comfort, and purpose throughout his journey. Among his favorite passages of Scripture was Psalm 23, whose message of God's guidance, protection, and everlasting presence reflected the faith that sustained him and the peace he found in his relationship with Christ.

Known for his enthusiasm, energy, and unmistakable love of anything fast and loud, James found great joy behind the wheel of his Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing and on the seat of his Harley-Davidson and custom motorcycles. He was deeply involved with the Cadillac V-Club, serving not only as a proud member of the Dallas–Fort Worth Chapter but also as President and CEO of the National Cadillac V-Club. He cherished the friendships he built through the club and loved attending events, showcasing his vehicles, and sharing his passion with fellow enthusiasts.

Among his greatest joys was spending time with his beloved son Alex. Along with road trips and adventures with friends. Whether traveling the open road, attending car events, or simply enjoying everyday moments together, James treasured the time he spent with those he loved.

James is survived by his son, Alex James Hughes of Allen, Texas; his parents, Jim and Edie Hughes; his brother, Jeff M. Hughes, and his wife, Julie M. Hughes, all of Las Cruces, New Mexico; Alex’s mother, Carla Hughes, of Allen, Texas; as well as many extended family members, including Michael Smith and Bryan Martin, who provided many years of support, along with friends and fellow automotive enthusiasts whose lives he touched.

He was preceded in death by his son, Dillan James Hughes, whom he loved dearly and carried forever in his heart.

James will be remembered for his generous spirit, his loyalty to family and friends, his deep faith, and his contagious enthusiasm for life. He never met a stranger for long, and his warmth, humor, and genuine interest in others left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. Though he will be greatly missed, his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

As those who loved James reflect on his life, the words of his beloved Psalm 23 offer comfort and hope:

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

A celebration of James's life will be held at:  Milestone Church, June 27th. 11am, 601 S. Graves St. McKinney, Texas 75069.
