James Wade Livingston, Jr, better known as Jim, passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at the age of 57. He was predeceased by his father, James W Livingston. He is survived and much missed by his mother, Patricia Livingston, his sister, Debbie Champion, and his brother, Bill Livingston. Born in Endicott, New York, Jim moved to Las Cruces in 1978. He attended Las Cruces High School and loved sports. A starting quarterback, Jim was #83 and played on the varsity team. Shortly after high school, Jim was injured at a party, which greatly challenged his life. His family and friends helped him survive and thrive. Determined to make a difference, Jim attended Phoenix Technical Institute, receiving an associates degree in architectural drafting. He returned to Las Cruces and worked for both the county and city offices. Jim's passion for sports, especially football, remained strong throughout his life. He helped coach a young football team, the Wolverines, back in 2003. The Pittsburgh Steelers were his favorite team, and his home had lots of Steelers memorabilia. His house often rang with laughter, as his friends gathered to watch games, play cards, and watch videos together. He was a good friend, thoughtful and caring, making everyone feel special. Jim's memorial service will be held Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at 2:30 pm. It will be at Getz Funeral Home Chapel,. It will be followed by a celebration of his life at The Pit Stop 292 Cafe, 361 S Motel Blvd, Las Cruces, NM. Food and beverages will be served. .In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the New Mexico Brain Injury Alliance. This group was a great help to Jim. Among other things, they fund a camp for people with brain injuries. Jim loved going to camp there. Their website is https://www.braininjurynm.org and donations can be made there in Jim's name.
