Jennie M. Rel, 80, of Las Cruces, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013. She was born June 15, 1932 in Las Cruces to Martin and Aurora Alvarez Montoya. She enjoyed soap operas and going to casinos. Jennie was a great cook and looked forward to cooking enchilada's every Friday night for her family, but her passion was always for her entire family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her children Ismael Rel Jr., Rosina Church and husband David, Diana Lyon and husband Parry and Denise Rel and husband Guy Ruther all of Las Cruces; brother George Montoya and sisters Emma Soto and Stella Bourger and husband Charles all of Las Cruces. Also surviving her are her grandchildren Jason and wife Whitney, Ismael "Demitrius", Josh, John "Levon", Andrew and Shelby and by one great-grandson on the way and many nieces and nephews. A funeral mass to celebrate her life will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013 at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church with Rite of Committal to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The honor of being a pallbearer goes to Ismael Rel Jr., Jason Rel, Ismael Demitrius Rel, Josh Lyon and Santiago R. Soto III.
