Jerry Fred
Adamson
September 7, 1937 – April 19, 2026
Jerry F. Adamson, 88, of Doña Ana, died on April 19, 2026. He leaves behind a legacy of being a good neighbor and an engaged citizen, known by many for his steady character and his role as a proud caretaker of many Dobermans through the years.
He was born September 7, 1937 in Enid, Oklahoma, the son of Smith Adamson and Minnie Felsburg. He was raised on a farm Northwest of Enid and attended both elementary and high school at Carrier, Oklahoma. He graduated from Carrier High School in 1955. His higher education was obtained at Oklahoma State University, where he received a BS degree of Agricultural Engineering. He remained a lifelong fan of collegiate football and wrestling, especially his Oklahoma State Cowboys.
He spent his entire career with the USDA, Forest Service and served at various locations in Arizona and New Mexico. He was very proud of the many projects he worked on in the Forest Service and enjoyed his entire career. Upon retirement in 1993 with 33 years, he moved to the Tri-State area of Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma. His final retirement was in Doña Ana, New Mexico. Jerry was a man who enjoyed the simple things in life, including traveling in his RV and a good slice of Pizza Hut Meat Lovers.
He was baptized in his youth at the Carrier Congregational Church. He was active in earlier years in the Jaycee's and was a lifelong member of the American Society of Agricultural Engineers. Upon retirement, he spent much of his time traveling and conducting genealogical research of the Adamson Family. He belonged to several Genealogical Societies. His Adamson Lineage is John (-1753), Thomas Sr. (1717-1790), Thomas Jr. (1758-1816), James (1783-1851), Thomas (1809-1885), Edwin Smith (1847-1914), Albert Milton (1880-1925), Smith (1906-1987).
His home and heart were always open to his Dobermans, and he took great pride in the many loyal companions he had by his side over the years. He was always willing to provide his knowledge (and sometimes his toolbox) to his beloved neighbors in times of need.
He is survived by two daughters; Cyndie Dalton (Mike) of Las Cruces, New Mexico and Jan Gallegos of Las Cruces, New Mexico; grandchildren Brandi Flock (Clinton), Dustin Dalton (Andrea), Sean Kelly (Brittany), Lacey Dalton, Kristopher Kelly, and Gabriel Gallegos. He is also survived by 3 nieces and 1 nephew, great grandchildren as well as many former colleagues and lifelong friends including his best childhood friend, Richard Davis of Oklahoma.
He is preceded in death by grandsons, Daniel and Nick Garcia; granddaughter Sierra Collins; daughters Tami Kelly of San Antonio, Texas and Leslie Moffett of Tularosa, New Mexico; a sister Virginia Morris of Wyandotte, Oklahoma and his parents Smith and Minnie Adamson of Enid, Oklahoma.
Cremation has taken place and Graveside services will be held at a later date at Memorial Park Cemetery, Enid, Oklahoma.
