Johnnie Ray Infante, 68, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, passed away on April 27, 2025. Born on May 22, 1956, in Las Cruces to Juanita and Marcos Infante, Johnnie was a lifelong resident of the community.
A proud veteran, Johnnie served honorably in the United States Army and the New Mexico Army National Guard. His dedication to his country continued through a 33-year career with the Army Research Laboratory at White Sands Missile Range, where his hard work and commitment made a lasting impact.
Beyond his professional life, Johnnie was known for his passion for golf. As a founding member of the Mesilla Valley Amateur Golf Association along with Dan Koesters, he helped grow and support the local golf community. As an avid golfer, he found both joy and enduring friendship on the fairways. He was also a devoted Philadelphia Eagles fan, proudly supporting his team through every season. Whether sharing a round, catching a game, or simply spending time in conversation, Johnnie's presence was warm, steady, and unforgettable. He was a friend, a storyteller, and a steady presence both on and off the course.
Johnnie is survived by his daughter, Kim, and his granddaughter, Angel. He is survived by his siblings: Yolanda Cruz (Roberto Cruz), Rose Ann Wireman (Thomas Wireman), Marcos Infante Jr. (Debra Infante), Alfonso Infante, Patricia Guerra (Hilario Guerra), Antonio Infante (Jennifer Reed), Christopher Infante, and Carla Jaramillo (Albert Jaramillo). He was preceded in death by his grandson Holden, mother Juanita Infante, father Marcos Infante and by his brothers, Stephen and Hector Infante. He is also remembered fondly by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A rosary will be held at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. on May 22, 2025, at St. Genevieve’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Masonic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Gary Sinise Foundation, in honor of Johnnie’s service and lifelong support of fellow veterans.
Johnnie’s legacy of service, strength, and friendship will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
