Judith Maria Cyrs-Macaw, age 46 of Las Cruces, left this Earth and began her eternal life with God on Saturday, June 21st 2013, and is now at peace after a long battle with many health problems. She is survived by her adoring son, Cameron Macaw of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, her loving mother and father Carol and Thomas Cyrs of Las Cruces, her sister Katie Ann Cyrs of Las Cruces, her brother Thomas E. Cyrs III of Boxboro Massachusetts, niece and nephew Kayla and Killian also of Boxboro Massachusetts, her uncle John "Red" McDuffie of North Andover Massachusetts, extended family, and many close friends especially Autumn Lee of Las Cruces. Judith was born in Newton, Massachusetts on October 19th, 1966 and moved to Las Cruces with her family in 1978. She graduated from Las Cruces High followed by New Mexico State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. She quickly established herself in Las Cruces as a talented and compassionate nurse whose patients quickly became her close friends. She continued to demonstrate her talent as a nurse after relocating to Westford Massachusetts with her son and ex-husband. There she turned a local nursing home from the brink of being shutdown by state officials to being one of the top long-term care facilities specializing in Alzheimer's and dementia residents. She continued her career in nursing until she was forced to retire early due to her declining health. In her years as a nurse both here in Las Cruces as well as in Massachusetts, Judith brought relief and kindness to many who were in need of a kind and loving touch. Judith returned to Las Cruces in the fall of 2008 to be closer to her family, and despite her ever declining health and no longer being a practicing Registered Nurse, she continued to touch the lives of those around her with her strong will and independent personality. She will be missed dearly. Rosary for Judith will be held at 10:30AM on Thursday, June 27th followed by a Funeral Mass to be held at St Albert The Great Newman Center, 2615 S. Solano Dr. Las Cruces. Rosary and Mass will be done by Monsenieur Anderson, a lifelong friend of Judith and the rest of the Cyrs family. Following the Funeral, friends are invited to join the family in remembering and celebrating Judith's life over lunch at the Cyrs Family home in Mesilla Park. Per her wishes, Judith has been cremated and her ashes will be divided. Half of her remains are to be interred with the rest of her family in Massachusetts and half to be scattered in Belgium by her son. PDF Printable Version
