Julie Belson, 80, resident of Las Cruces, died peacefully at home with her daughters and close friends by her side on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, after a 17 month battle with pancreatic cancer. Julie was born August 12, 1931, in Chicago, daughter of Rafael and Raquel Rodriguez. Julie will be forever missed by family and friends who knew and loved her. She is survived by daughter Pat Potenzo of Elk Grove Village, IL, Martha Wilson of Las Cruces, Leslie Meyerberg of Elk Grove Village, IL, granddaughters Natalie Wilson of Naperville, IL, and Samantha Meyerberg of River Grove, IL. Julie is survived by sisters Raquel Wine of North Port, FL, and Mercedes DeLaurentis of Las Cruces and five nieces and nephew and their children. Preceding her in death was her husband Richard C. Belson and parents Rafael & Raquel Rodriguez. Julie was well known by many from her years of sales at Sears, selling her embellished clothing at the Farmers Market, various craft shows around Las Cruces and at Good Samaritan. Julie's other love and passion besides her family and friends was "dancing". She enjoyed dancing at Grahams, Munson's and the Country Club. Julie called weekends her "therapy". A friends and family visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 from 5 to 7 pm. Funeral service will be Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at 10 am at Our Lady of Health Catholic Church with Fr. Francisco Oviedo. Burial will be at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, El Paso, TX at 1 pm. PDF Printable Version
