Kenneth Wayne Brown, a man of larger-than-life presence, boundless generosity, and a spirit of true adventure, passed away unexpectedly on August 7, 2026. Born on May 13, 1948, in Arlington, Washington, to Griffin Grover Brown and Irene Hazel Montgomery Brown, Kenneth lived a life defined by courage, skill, and deep devotion to those he loved.
Kenneth was a proud United States Army veteran who served with distinction during the Vietnam War as part of the 220th Aviation Company and as a brave paratrooper. For his exceptional valor and service, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal (with "V" device for valor) and the Air Medal, among other honors. His lifelong passion for aviation extended far beyond his military service; Kenneth was an accomplished commercial pilot, flight instructor, and mechanic who loved flying planes, jumping out of them, and meticulously repairing them.
Above all, Kenneth was a devoted husband. He met his wife, Susan, through friends in Houston, and the two were married on December 21, 1998. They were truly each other’s lifeline, and they did everything together.
Kenneth had a fun, playful personality and gave his absolute best effort in everything he touched. He was a master handyman who could fix just about anything. Outside of his projects, he loved landscaping and took immense joy in decorating for the holidays—especially Christmas, where he would spend months planning and positioning yard decorations to bring laughter and joy to his fellow neighbors, their kids, and their grandkids. He was also a wonderful planner who loved to plan trips.
Kenneth is survived by his loving wife, Susan; his younger sister, Diane Mayers; and many nieces and nephews, alongside a lifetime of cherished memories shared with family, fellow veterans, and countless friends.
He was will be interred at Fort Bliss National Cemetery in El Paso with military honors on August 24, 2026.
