Obituary

Have you ever met someone and thought, what a nice guy. He sure was friendly, helpful and just made us laugh and feel good. Well then, you just met Ken (aka Junior to his family). You couldn’t help but smile when you saw him coming, he just had that charisma about him.

Kenneth M. Singh was born on November 17, 1947, in Las Cruces NM and sometime in the early hours of July 2, 2026, Ken took his final breath at his family home. Being home grown, Ken started working at an early age in the onion fields. As he got older and wiser, Ken held other jobs and then began working in clothing retail where he found his love for clothes/shoes. He became quite the dresser, passing his expertise to his siblings as they dressed for special events. Ken held many other positions and finally retired from the workforce as a computer systems analyst at NASA.

Ken also served in the U.S. Army for two years at the rank of SPC, finishing his tour of duty in Anchorage, Alaska. After retirement, Ken loved going to the casino, playing card games, and watching game shows, he especially enjoyed watching Judge Judy. He loved Aggie sports and always supported and cheered them on. He also supported his nieces and nephews’ sports, birthdays and always had money for them all, birthday or not. Ken had the best sense of humor and loved teasing and making those around him laugh and return the favor to him. Ken also was an excellent dancer and loved dancing whenever he got the chance. He also loved to brag about the clothing bargains he found at estate sales remarking how cheap the shirt he might be wearing cost. One of Ken’s favorite past times that everyone who knew him could tell you, and he was the first to say that his hobby was sleeping.

Ken is survived by his siblings, Olga Valverde, Della Sanchez, Charles Singh, Jerry Singh (Terri), and Sandra Singh; his companion, Mary Horton; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends. To Ken, no one was ever a stranger.

Ken is predeceased by his mother and stepfather Rose Montano Prevette and David R. Prevette, his grandparents, many uncles, aunts, cousins and other special friends.

We are especially thankful to Lori and staff with Las Cruces Village and Lupe, Yolanda, Mary Ann, Gabby and Rosie with Home Care of Dona Ana for their guidance and support.

The funeral mass for Ken will be celebrated on Friday, July 24, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral, 1240 S. Espina, Las Cruces, NM.
