Larry James Schuyler, 69 years old passed away on July 12, 2013 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He was born in Owosso, Michigan to Lloyd Myron and Beulah Iva Duley Schuyler on January 6, 1944. Larry was 69 years old. He graduated from Frankenmuth High School in Frankenmuth, Michigan. He had a Bachelors level in education in management and procurement. Larry was currently employed by Jacobs Engineering at White Sands Space Harbor as a Technical Specialist. He was instrumental in assuring that WSSH was always ready for the Space Shuttle to safely land there if needed. Also Larry had a wealth of knowledge about the Shuttle and the support facilities for it. He also worked as a Field Engineer and Budget Specialist for WSSH and interfaced with NASA, was also Operations Manager and Program Liaison, Senior Lead and Program Analyst, Administrative Procurement Supervisor at White Sands Test Facility (WSTF), and Lead Operations Data Analyst for over 38 years. He was awarded a commendation from U.S. Senator Pete Domenici for his work with the SciAd program, 15 Years of Service from Lockheed Martin, received the Space Flight Awareness Honoree Award from NASA, the Allied Signal Milestones Award, Certificate of Appreciation form the Fellowship of Las Cruces Area Rocketry Enthusiasts and the New Mexico Museum of Space History for the support to the Apollo 17 40th Anniversary Commemoration in 2012, plus the National Management Association Charter Member of the NASA White Sands Chapter. Larry enjoyed playing golf, fishing and hunting, especially spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed working in his pecan orchard and giving the grandkids rides on his tractor. He was a race car enthusiast. Larry was a devoted husband, loving father, caring brother and incredible grandfather. He was always ready to lend a hand to his family, coworkers, and neighbors. Everyone could always depend on his help. He especially enjoyed the family gatherings and barbequing for these events. He is survived by his loving wife, MariaElena Schuyler, his daughters, Glenda Rivera, Kim McDowell (Todd) and Tiffany Lydia Schuyler, brothers Roger Schuyler, Donald (Dolores) Schuyler, Jack (Beatice) Schuyler, sister JoAnn Schuyler, sisters-in-law Paula Schuyler, Linda Schuyler, Dorene Schuyler, Connie Telles, Dolores Lindbeck, Esperanza Telles, brothers-in-law Frank (Alica) Lucero, Alfred (Tonia) Telles, Michael (Liz) Telles, Gilbert (LuzElena) Telles, step sons, Jaime (Susie) Torres, Andrew Torres, his grandsons Jonathon Sandoval, Gabriel William Schavier, Gavin Lawrence Schavier, Harley Torres, granddaughters Katlynn Schneider, Katrina Torres, great grandson Irvin Torres, great granddaughters Melanie Torres and Korbyn Torres. Also surviving Larry are 29 nephews, 18 nieces, 29 great grand nephews, 28 great grand nieces, 17 great great grand nephews, and 15 great great grand nieces. He was predeceased in death by his father Lloyd and his mother Beulah Schuyler, brothers Roy Schuyler, Daune Schuyler, Walter Schuyler, Dale Schuyler and Carl Schuyler and step daughter Lydia Torres Lozano. The memorial services will be held at Getz Funeral Home, 1410 East Bowman Avenue on Friday, July 19 at 10:00 am. Burial will take place following the services at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
