Obituary

Leandro Zubia Jr. (69), a hardworking, caring, and generous man, entered the gates of heaven on Sunday, August 16, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories and legacy of love that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

He was born on June 1, 1957, in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. He lived in the United States since he was 9 months old. He grew up in various places, including Anthony, NM, Anthony, TX, Hatch, NM, Huntington Park, CA, Las Cruces, NM.

During his younger years, he worked at Stahmann farms, Valley Transit Mix. It was his dream to start a trucking company while he lived in California, however he met his wife Yolanda, and they were married in 1980.

He worked at Dona Ana County Road Department for approximately 10 years. He decided to cash in his retirement and start his dream with purchasing a 1980 Peterbilt and founded the business of Zubia Farms Trucking. During his career, he was able to purchase several more semi tractors and trailers. He was able to keep the company thriving for 35 years. During this time, he also built lifelong friendships with other truck drivers.

He was known by many for his kindness and willingness to lend a helping hand without expecting anything in return.

He and Yolanda were married for 46 years, they have three children Leandro III (Evelyn), Crystal and Rachel (Isiaah) and five grandchildren, Nicholas, Leandro IV, Anthony, Samantha and Gabriel. He adored his grandchildren, often naming Semis after them.

He is survived by his wife, Yolanda, and his children, and his siblings Adolf (Beverlye) Maria Soledad, Lupe Cardenas (Roy), Maggie Candia, Joe (Maria), Socorro (Alegra), Cecilia Garcia, and Frank (Gloria), Larry Lopez, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Leandro R Zubia (the first), Magdalena (Nena) Zubia, and brothers Tom (Debbie) and Erasmo EZ (Cindy)

Pallbearers will be Leandro Zubia III, Leandro Zubia IV, Nicholas Diaz, Anthony Brown, Socorro Zubia, Sammy Franco and honorary pallbearer Joel Nanez

Funeral services are scheduled for August 25, 2026, at Getz Funeral Home Chapel beginning with a visitation at 9:00 am followed by funeral Services at 10:00 am . Interment will take place at 11:30 am at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
