Lorretta Guy 89 passed away on April 30th, 2015 at Casa de Oro Care Center, surrounded by her family. Lorretta and her twin sister Loraine were born on November 2, 1925 in Erie Kansas to James Leo Norris and Leila Pearl Norris. She is survived by her triplet brothers Charles, Raymond & Harold (also known as Chuck, Slim & Shorty) and her sister Mildred, her 4 children, 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert and brothers Kenneth, Bernard and William (Bill) and twin sister Loraine all of Kansas. She is also preceded in death by her sister Mary Marie. She graduated from Walnut High School, Walnut Kansas in 1943 and then married her high school sweet heart Robert "Cotton" Guy on December 4, 1945 and spent 69 happy years together before his passing on January 20, 2015. Robert & Lorretta also known as "Cotton and White Woman" had 5 children Judy, Carol Nancy and Ralph who is most likely what caused her hair to turn white. Her greatest joys in life were her 6 precious grandchildren Dennis, Kathi, Sheila, Stacie, Jason, June, Deborah & Diane and 12 great grandchildren. Lorretta devoted her life to homemaking. She did work alongside her husband in the family business, Cotton's Truck Stop while raising their children and at the Legg's factory for a short time. When she wasn't working she kept busy with numerous activities including cake decorating, crocheting, baking cookies, bowling, bingo, gardening and canning. She loved to gather with friends for an evening of cards or dominos. She managed to travel to many of the states during her life and she recorded those trips with a collection of state shaped magnets proudly displayed on her refrigerator. Lorretta was also very fond of flowers, birds and animals. She spent many afternoons on her porch swing watching the hummingbirds or tending to her roses with her beloved dog Digger close by. She was a member of the Catholic Church and attended mass at Immaculate Heart of Mary for many years but most recently was a member at Holy Cross. She was called mom and grandma by many close friends in addition to her own children and grandchildren. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 from 5:00 to 6:00 pm immediately followed by a Prayer Vigil. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 10:00 am at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Interment will immediately follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery. PDF Printable Version
