Lois Margaret Calvert was born May 19, 1940, in Rockford, Illinois, to Wallace and Clara Calvert. She passed away on October 2, 2026, in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Lois earned a Bachelor's degree at the University of Wisconsin and a Master's degreein Library Science at the University of Denver, the first steps in a long career in law libraries. She spent 20 years at the University of Colorado Law School, then worked for LEXIS and several private law firms before serving as the Chief Librarian for the Colorado Supreme Court until her retirement in 2002. Throughout her career, she was active in many law library associations.

Lois loved to travel, and she went far. Her adventures took her across Europe, to Kenya to see wild animals, through Mexico and Latin America, across Hawaii and Tahiti, into Canada, and all over the United States.

She also had a long history of giving her time. In 2008, Lois was named Volunteer of the Year at the Denver Habitat for Humanity ReStore. She volunteered frequently at the Denver Public Library and stayed active in retirement classes at the University of Denver.

Lois is survived by her sister, Anne Morgan (Arthur), of Las Cruces, New Mexico; her sister-in-law, Josane Calvert, of Charlotte, North Carolina; and her nieces, Nicole Lowe (Michael) of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, and Christine Hunt (Matthew) of Seattle, Washington. She is also survived by a great-nephew and three great-nieces: Jameson Parker "JP" Lowe and Kayden Lowe of Mt. Pleasant, and Clara and Lillian Hunt of Seattle. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, John Calvert.

In keeping with her wishes, Lois's body has been donated to the Anatomical Board of the State of Colorado for medical research. No services are planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Denver Habitat for Humanity or the Denver Public Library, two places close to her heart.
