Lonnie Mahres

Lonnie E Mahres, 77, of Las Cruces, NM passed away at his home, Thursday, July 10, 2025. Lonnie was born in El Paso, TX on October 16, 1947, to Arthur E. Mahres and Ola Faye Mahres (Neely).

He was predeceased by his parents, Arthur (Ed) Mahres and Ola Faye Mahres, Father-in-law and mother-in-law, Nash Godinez and Fiddie Godinez, brother-in-law, Billy Godinez, and special friends, Chris Jaramillo, Tony Juarez and Mike Null.

Survived by his wife of 54 years, Nadine Mahres, son Miles Mahres and wife Kelly, grandson, Connor Mahres and granddaughter Natalie Mahres, sister Carol Parker (Charles) nephews Jason Parker and Eric Parker, plus his special canine pals, Boomer and Dixie.

Lonnie graduated from Las Cruces High School in 1965 and received a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from New Mexico State University in 1973. After graduating from NMSU, Lonnie was an insurance adjuster with General Adjustment Bureau, Flagstaff, AZ for 2 years. Returning to Las Cruces and was an Independent Insurance agent in Las Cruces and Deming, retiring in 2012.

Lonnie served in the US Army during Vietnam era and was stationed in Thailand. He loved Thailand and the people.

He enjoyed hunting, riding motorcycles, happy hour with friends, and trips to NASCAR races in Phoenix, Fontana, CA and Las Vegas NV.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm, Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Getz Funeral Home 1410 E Bowman Las Cruces, NM with burial to follow at Masonic Cemetery 760 S Compress Rd Las Cruces, NM with Dr Frank Zamora officiating.

Pallbearers: Connor Mahres, Quaid Muncy, Ryan Jaramillo, Travis Long, Bud Godinez, Ronny Grider. Honorary pallbearers: Steve Apodaca, Steve Allen, Cary Muncy, Mike Godinez, Scott Stuart, Rodney Tharp, Steve Pena, John Swift, Eric Parker.
