It is with heavy hearts we announce, Lori C. Evans has passed peacefully from her earthly presence and transitioned to serenity on April 15, 2025, with her loved ones by her side.
Lori was introduced to this world on February 23, 1959, in Auburn, Indiana, to Patricia (Patsy) Manzenberger (Detrick) and James (Jim) Luther Price. She was the youngest of six children, sister to Sandy, Karen, Debbie, David, and Kenny. She graduated from Las Cruces High School in 1978.
A published writer, Lori wrote and advocated for MPP, and other social justice causes from the early 80s to recently. She also wrote and published multiple short stories and poems about her life. It was always her lifelong dream to write a book about her adventures, as well as her tribulations. She was an animal lover and advocate who took in many strays and was also a beautiful and trusting friend to humans, as well, and will be missed profoundly.
She was an expert rockhound and artifact hunter. With her “eyes on the ground,” she spent immeasurable hours and days exploring the mountains and deserts of New Mexico, mostly in her most cherished place, Chloride, NM. She loved to go to Elephant Butte Lake to camp and fish with her brother, Kenny. She was a passionate old soul who loved collecting antiques, watching black and white movies, and could tell you everything you could ever want to know about the lives of Marilyn Monroe, Cary Grant, Lauren Bacall, Marlene Dietrich, and countless other black and white era actors.
She was Mother (Ma) to her only child, daughter, Leslie Sanchez. Nana to three grandchildren, Nathaniel Lee Sanchez-Smith, Chloe Ann Sanchez-Smith, and Roman Perez. She was a dedicated and loving wife to Timothy Shawn Evans. She was a partner to Jason Young.
Lori is preceded in death by her beloved mother and stepfather, Patsy and Jim Manzenberger. Her father, Jim Price, and her precious grandson, Nathaniel Lee.
As per her wishes, her earthly remains will be spread atop the mountains of Chloride, NM, to be alongside her mama and spread her wings in the place that gave her the most peace.
