Louis Martin (Zivkovich) Bon was born to Helen Marie Bon & Eli Zivkovich on May 10, 1939 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He passed away on August 12, 2025 in Las Cruces, NM.
Lou graduated from High School in Rankin, PA and had a football scholarship to the University of Miami. He transferred to New Mexico State University and was co-captain of the historic undefeated Border Conference Championship team in 1960 coached by Warren Woodsen. He played football 5 years for the Calgary Stampeders in Canada. He was a PE teacher and coach in California for more than 30 years. He also performed as an extra in some movies and conducted security at Hollywood Race Track. In February 2020, he moved to Las Cruces, NM.
Lou is survived by his sister, Ruth (Chuck) Dunsey and nieces, Tasha and Tanya and their families of Millersville, Maryland, a son Kirk Zivkovich (Pride) and granddaughter, Ava, daughter, Shelley Zivkovich (Jerri) all of Las Cruces, and a daughter, Jamie (Steve) Erfle and grandchildren, Brayden, Hailey, Patrick, & Daniel of Blue Bell, Pennsylvania.
We wish to thank Desert Peaks Assisted Living Facility and High Desert Hospice for their kind and diligent care. As per Lou’s request, no funeral or celebrations will be held. If you feel inclined to honor Lou, please run on the beach, ride your Harley, or donate to your favorite charity. May Lou rest in eternal peace.
