Louis Anthony Harvath, 83, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2026, at home after an extended illness.
Louie was born on May 26,1942 to Olivene Sipes and Martin Harvath in Cleveland, Ohio.
He entered the US Army on May 29, 1961, and served until May 12, 1965. He was expert in Carbine, Rifle (M-1), Marksman (Machine Gun M-60), and Expert (Rifle M-14) and received a Letter of Commendation. Louie was a social member of the Reynolds VFW #7599 for many years in Pennsylvania.
For more than 35 years, Louie worked in the steel industry and railroad at Sharon Steel and Trinity Industries in Pennsylvania.
Louie and his wife Donna married on May 23, 1992, and blended their families to raise five children.
Throughout Louie’s life he enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, softball, and umpiring. He was an avid follower of Reynolds High School wrestling and was a member of the football chain gang for 20 years in Pennsylvania. In his later years he enjoyed a peaceful existence with Donna and their pets.
Louie was predeceased by his parents, his first wife Betsy Messina Harvath, father-in-law Richard L Kimmy Sr, and son in law Albert Young. He is survived by:

Colleen Overly (daughter) and husband Ken
And his blended family:
Richard Curtician Jr and wife Denise
Christy Lynn Harvath-Young
Candace Curtician- Heriger and husband Heath
Crystal Harvath
Micky Curtician
Also survived by a large extended family which includes 20 plus grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
