Lucinda Eagle-Jepson

September 4, 1964 — October 3, 2025

Lucinda Eagle-Jepson, lovingly known as Cindy or Cinda, passed away unexpectedly in the early morning hours of Friday, October 3, 2025, in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Cinda was born on September 4, 1964, in Texarkana, Arkansas, to Linda Sue and Carl Armstrong. As a young girl, her family moved to Las Cruces, where she attended Alameda Elementary. They later settled in La Luz, New Mexico, where she fondly remembered riding the school bus from La Luz to Alamogordo each day. During high school, the family relocated to California, where she completed school at Westminster High School in Westminster, CA.

Cinda is survived by her devoted husband, Richard Jepson of Las Cruces, NM; and her children: Alicia Lamb and son-in-law Bryan Lamb of Williamsburg, VA; Sharlee Eagle and son-in-law Daniel Brisco; Dessirae Poppenberg and son-in-law James Poppenberg; and Tyler Jepson and his partner Alexis Jimenez, all of Las Cruces, NM. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren — Cody and Kaleb Lamb of Williamsburg, VA, and Adrianna, Jacob, and Emilia Poppenberg of Las Cruces, NM — as well as her mother, Linda Sue Armstrong, her brother Chuck Armstrong and sister-in-law Patti Armstrong, all of Las Cruces, NM. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless others she considered family.

She was preceded in death by her late husband, Charles Eagle; her father, Carl Armstrong; her maternal grandparents, Luther and Leora Davis; and her paternal grandparents, Marion “Esther” Vaught and Carl Armstrong, Sr.

One of Cinda’s greatest joys in life was being a Nanna. She adored her grandchildren and cherished every moment spent with them — celebrating their milestones, attending their events, and showering them with love, laughter, and her signature warmth. Her grandchildren were truly the light of her life.

Cinda loved every holiday, but Christmas was her absolute favorite. She delighted in decorating her collection of more than 30 Christmas trees, each with its own special theme. Dressed as Holly the Elf, she visited her daughters’ schools and even rode around town in a red convertible with Santa Claus, spreading joy and laughter throughout the community. Cinda didn’t just celebrate Christmas — she brought the Christmas magic wherever she went.

Her love for animals was boundless — she cared for a wide variety of pets throughout her life, including skunks, tarantulas, and lizards. No creature was too unusual for her compassion. One of her many special pets was a pig named Honeymoon, whom she and Richard got during their honeymoon. They even took Honeymoon — along with their children — to Disneyland, where Cinda proudly became the first person ever to have a pet pig at Disneyland!

Cinda also loved cooking, baking, and entertaining. Her home was always open, filled with delicious food, laughter, and enough hospitality to feed the whole neighborhood. She enjoyed participating in local light parades and birthday parades with her daughter Sharlee and her car club friends.

Cinda never met a stranger — she spoke to everyone with warmth and kindness. Over the years, she cared for and loved many children beyond her own, including former students at Rivers Academy, where she taught culinary arts until the school’s closure. She always had space in her home for anyone who needed it — a place to stay, a meal to share, an ear to listen, or a shoulder to cry on.

Cinda was also a proud firefighter’s wife, always supporting Richard and the firefighting community with pride and love.

Cinda had a light that filled every room she entered. Her laughter, compassion, and generous spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to their GoFundMe account (https://gofund.me/c372d3d43) to help with funeral expenses and loss of income, or to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation in Cinda’s memory.

Arrangements are under the care of Getz Funeral Home in Las Cruces. Private services will be held at a later date.
