Luke Andrew Gilpin was born on May 5, 1960, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and passed away peacefully on January 5, 2026 surrounded by his family in the comfort of his home.
Luke was the son of Patrick Gilpin and Roseann Pacey, and the devoted husband of Susan Gilpin, with whom he shared 42 years of marriage. Together, they built a life rooted in love, loyalty, and family.
He was a proud father to Ashley Gloss and her husband, John, and Seth Gilpin and his wife, Janae. Luke found his greatest joy in being “Grandpa” to Declan, Charlotte, and Cora, with a fourth grandchild on the way—a role he cherished deeply.
Luke is survived by his siblings: Becky, Mark, Frank, Matt, Kathy, Edward, and Mike, along with their families.
Luke attended the University of New Mexico on a wrestling scholarship. He then went on to spend more than 30 years working in information technology, serving Doña Ana County and El Paso County.
His love of wrestling never left him. For over 20 years, Luke served as a New Mexico high school wrestling referee, giving back to the sport that helped shape him and earning the respect of athletes and coaches throughout the state.
Above all, Luke was a devoted father. He coached both of his children in soccer, in baseball, and most important of all, in life. He was always present, always supportive, and always proud.
Luke loved playing golf, traveling, and cooking—often using those moments to bring people together. He will be remembered for his friendly, outgoing personality. Luke had a natural ability to make people laugh, loved telling stories, and could connect with just about anyone he met.
Luke’s steady presence, warmth, and pride in his family will be deeply missed. His legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren, and all those whose lives he touched.
A Memorial Service is scheduled at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 16, 2026 at Getz Funeral Home.
