Manuela Montoya, 91, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Saturday, September 28, 2013. She was born on January 6, 1922 in La Union, NM to Noberto and Guadalupe (Martinez) Archuleta. She was a long time resident of Las Cruces, NM. Manuela worked as a cashier for the Las Cruces Public Schools and for JC Penney for several years. She was a homemaker. She loved listening to music and enjoyed singing along. She liked watching game shows, doing crafts including making flowers from colored dough and drawing flowers, playing games of all sorts and sewing. Her favorite flowers were roses. Manuela was married to Robert A. Montoya in February, 1946 in Las Cruces, NM. They had one daughter Rebecca. Manuela was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, her parents Noberto and Guadalupe, and her brother Joaquin. She is survived by her daughter Rebecca Gill and husband John of Las Cruces, grandsons Christopher Hare and wife Lorie of Loveland, CO; JC Gill and wife Helen of Marlow, OK; Andy Gill of Lawton, OK, great-granddaughter Kairi Hare, great-grandson Harley Beam, sister Alicia Estrada and husband Marcelino of Las Cruces, and numerous nephews, nieces and in-laws. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. A prayer vigil for Manuela will be 7 p.m., Friday October 4, 2013 at Getz Funeral Home.
