Maria Macias Mercado

Maria Macias Mercado was born March 25, 1933 to Felix and Quirina Mercado in Las Cruces, NM. She was Dame Maria Mercado of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem and served as a Communicant to shut-ins within the Las Cruces Catholic diocese. She, Fermin, Felix Jr., and Sofia all retired from White Sands Missile Range in June 1988 for a combined service of over 120 years.

She is survived by her older sister, Helen Wesley of Las Cruces as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers (Fermin, Felix Jr., Alejandro), oldest sister Sofia, and niece Victoria.

A Rosary is scheduled for Monday, July 7, 2025 at 7pm in the Getz Funeral Chapel. The Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at 10:00AM at St. Genevieve’s Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Masonic Cemetery.
