Marilyn de forest Culver mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully March 9, 2014. Marilyn was born December 1, 1924, in upstate New York to Dr. Lee de Forest and Mary Mayo de Forest. For many years she resided in Albuquerque, NM but her love of the outdoors, the Northwest and spirit of the "western way of life" precipitated her to move to White Fish, Montana and eventually settling in Spokane, Washington. She worked and enjoyed her time as an administrative assistant for the CBS affiliate KREM television located in Spokane, Washington. After her retirement in 1992, she moved to Las Cruces to be closer to her family whom she dearly loved. She was a devout Catholic and a member of Holy Cross church. She is predeceased by her husband Ed Culver and sister Eleanor Peck. She is survived by her daughter Susan Martin and son-in-law Gregg of Las Cruces; two grandchildren Kenny Martin and wife Amy of Edgewood, Texas, Kelly Martin and husband Brandon Stecker of Las Cruces; four great-grandchildren Libby, Barrett, Connor, Keely and her special grand- cat "Oreo." She will be dearly missed by her family but always remembered for her strength, positive attitude, devotion to God and loving ways. The family wishes to thank Mesilla Valley Hospice staff for their compassionate and caring treatment in her final days. A memorial mass will be held Thursday morning March 13, 2014, at 10:30 at Holy Cross Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Mesilla Valley Hospice in her name.
