Mary Agnes Haddrill Bacon, age 92, peacefully passed away at Cottonbloom Assisted Living and Memory Care Community with her family at her side. She happily resided at Cottonbloom for more than three years. Mary grew up in Duluth, Minnesota and earned her B.S. Degree in nursing there from the College of St. Scholastica. Mary married Lawrence J Haddrill in 1943 and together they raised a family of ten children. Mary spent a number of years working as a nurse in Michigan before she relocated with her family to Las Cruces in 1963. Mary pursued her career as a registered nurse at Memorial Medical Center from 1963 until her retirement in 1997. She loved working on the post partum floor with the new mothers and babies. During her retirement years Mary enjoyed travel, tennis and dancing. She met Richard (Dick) Bacon at a local senior center and they married in 2002. They were such familiar faces at the Center's Saturday night dances that the band leader was known to strike up a lively rendition of "Proud Mary" whenever Mary and Dick entered the room. Richard Bacon passed away in 2007. Mary was known for her generosity, positive attitude and deep caring for others, especially her family. She was so very proud of her children. She had a wonderful sense of humor, a warm, welcoming smile and beautiful eyes. Mary is survived by her 10 children: L. James (Cecilia) Haddrill of Las Cruces, Dove Flowers of Las Cruces, Dan (Ana) Haddrill of Santa Fe, Margaret (Ed) Leach of Oswego, New York, Sarah (Richard) Stegall of Las Cruces, Richard (Gleda) Haddrill of Santa Fe, Kevin (Marilyn) Haddrill of Las Cruces, Aaron Haddrill (Angie Gabaldon) of Rio Rancho, Connie (Jon) Singh of Santa Fe, and Lisa Haddrill of Las Cruces. She was predeceased by her first husband, Lawrence J. Haddrill in 1979 and grandson, Luke Bowden, of Las Cruces in 2010.
