Mary Ann
Mayfield
February 1, 1926 – June 4, 2026
On June 4, 2026, Mesilla Valley Centenarian Mary Ann Mayfield passed away peacefully in Las Cruces with loving family at her bedside.
Born February 1, 1926 to Bernice and Robert E (Bill) Lee, Mary Ann was a devoted wife, mother grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Mary Ann shared a long love story with her husband Bobby. They met during WW2. Mary Ann was a Registered Nurse (RN) and he was a combat bomber pilot in the European theater.
They started their family in 1946 after moving to Las Cruces. She and Bobby encouraged their family youngsters with education support including advanced degrees, each according to their gifts. She loved all of God’s nature. Her favorite pastime was sitting at her patio door feeding the birds that would come every morning for breakfast at her feet. She loved colorful fresh-cut flowers on any occasion!
She is survived by her children Tyke, Pam and Missy; her grandchildren Robert, Catherine, Tres, Karrie, Kelly, Amanda, Sean and Ryan; and great-grandchildren Kaleigh, Mia, Kyle, Katie, Olivia and Clara. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby M Mayfield, and her brother John Lee. Her life will be celebrated in a private ceremony for family members.
The family wishes to thank her caregivers Hortencia, Susanna, Carla, Berna, Janice, Lakeisha and Maddi for their loving attention to our Mom. The family also wishes to thank Mesilla Valley Hospice staff while Mom was in their care. Donations may be made to your favorite charity or to Mesilla Valley Hospice.
