Mary Corine Pacheco

Mary Corine Pacheco, 92, passed away on April 8, 2026, in Las Cruces, NM. Born on April 3, 1934, to Evaisto and Martina Gurule in Vallecitos, NM, she was the eldest of eight siblings raised in Vallecitos and Espanola, NM. She resided primarily in Hawthorne, CA.

Ms. Pacheco graduated from Santa Cruz High School and pursued careers as both a cosmetologist and florist. Her commitment to service was reflected through her membership with LA Goal, supporting individuals with disabilities, and her volunteer work as a eucharistic minister at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hawthorne, CA.

Her interests included gardening, dancing, attending sports events, visiting casinos, and engaging with members of the film industry. Ms. Pacheco was known for her enthusiasm for life and left a meaningful impact on all who knew her.

She is survived by her sisters Mary S. Graham (David, deceased) of Las Cruces, Mary Jane Rael (Juan, deceased) of Milan, NM, Bernadette Salazar (Gabriel, deceased) of Espanola, NM; her brother Gilbert Gurule (Anita, deceased) of Albuquerque, NM; sister-in-law Fidelia Gurule (Leo, deceased) of Espanola; and daughter-in-law Helen Pacheco of Santa Monica, CA. She is also fondly remembered by two aunts, Rose Gurule of Utah and Anita Martinez of Espanola; her goddaughter Mary Frances of Espanola; and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins with whom she shared close relationships.

Ms. Pacheco was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Pacheco; son Robert Pacheco; daughter Ida Pacheco; parents Evaristo and Martina Gurule; grandmothers Juanita Martinez and Rufinita Jaramillo; brothers Presiliano Gurule (Ophilia, deceased), Leo Gurule, Abel Gurule (Dolores, deceased); brother- and sister-in-law Luciano and Ercilia Montoya; mother-in-law Cirila Montoya; and brother-in-law Eloy Tafoya.

Serving as pallbearers are Carlos Gurule, Stephen Gurule, Leon Gurule, Paul Salazar, Leonard Martinez, and Clarence Atencio. Lamont Sharp III, Kristina Mendoza, and all her nieces and nephews have been named honorary pallbearers.
