Mary LuElla Golden

Mary LuElla Golden, Lu to all who knew her, passed from this earthly plain on June 14, 2026 at the age of 92. Her journey ended in the thoughtful care at Mountain View Regional Medical Center.

Lu was born December 2, 1933 in Odin, Illinois to Rena Agnes Yoder and Elmer Dean Greer and had no siblings. She was preceded in death by both her parents and her beloved stepfather James Beals. Lu was raised with a number of cousins and her wonderful Aunt Lettie. She completed high school in Detroit, Michigan where she excelled in art and swimming. Throughout her adult life she was a voracious reader and took classes to expand her art skills and knowledge in computer graphics.

Lu retired from Civil Service at White Sands Missile Range in 1991. She was a talented graphic illustrator and amazing freehand artist. In her personal life she enjoyed volunteering at Memorial Medical Center; she served as the Poster Person for the cardiac care department and was the chairperson of the post surgical ‘heart pillows’ committee. She loved traveling with her family and in later years with her beloved husband. Whether it was the Elephant Butte lake or the Gila River she had the camp set up and everything planned so her family could relax and enjoy each other.

Lu was a lifetime member of the Las Cruces Order of the Eastern Star, who will be preforming the gravesite service on June 22,2026 at 11:00am at the Las Cruces Masonic Cemetery, 760 Compress Rd, Las Cruces, NM.

She was survived by her Husband, Gene, children Nathan Golden, Renee Golden Tefft (Steven), Lee Golden (Lora); eight grand children Stephanie Perry, Ryan Tefft, Travis Alsup, Brandon Alsup, Jenae Rodriguez, Spencer Golden, Cameron Golden and Christopher Golden; and ten great grand children Eleanor, Aria, Shirley, Jackson, James, Adrianna, Ravenna, Emersen, Aidric, Ashur and Eridan.
