Mary “Louise” Montoya was born in Tajique, New Mexico on November 25, 1937 to Jose I. and Brigida Otero. Louise was raised and spent the majority of her life in the beautiful surroundings of Santa Fe, where she met her husband Alfredo Montoya Jr and spent time with her family.
She and her husband moved to Las Cruces to spend their remaining years. The two of them were married for 65 years and spent memorable years fishing along with endless Bingo nights with Family and Friends. Louise served in the food industry excelling in her career as a Cafeteria Manager for the Santa Fe Public School District for 28 years, where children were always the focus of her career. Louise will forever be remembered for her delicious desserts, which includes her famous apple pies and soft buttery rolls.
Louise is preceded in death by Alfredo Montoya Jr. (spouse), Paul A. Montoya (son), her parents Jose Inacio and Brigida Otero. Her siblings Fidel Otero, Emilio Otero, Peggy Turrietta, Frances Gallegos, and Molly Mares.
Louise is survived by her daughter Bridget Spedalieri, son-in-law Bobby Spedalieri, grandchildren Christopher M. Spedalieri – spouse Vanessa, Robert Spedalieri Jr., Joshua and Cabrini Montoya, great grandchildren Noah and Nico Spedalieri. Including extended family members Jenny Salazar (Joe), Gloria Kennedy, Steve Otero, Jerry Otero and many adored nieces and nephews. Pallbearers – Chris Spedalieri, Robert Spedalieri Jr., Joshua Montoya, and Clifford Otero.
A mother’s love is the core that carries through her sensitivity, empathy and loving responses. Louise was that if not more and the absence of her presence will forever be with us.
A service and burial will be held at Nuestra Senora De Guadalupe Catholic Parish in Pena Blanca on Friday, October 2, 2026; Rosary at 10:00 am with Mass to follow and will conclude with the burial of urns for Mary Louise Montoya, Alfredo Montoya Jr. and Paul A. Montoya.
