Melba W Schumacher

Melba Wright Schumacher, 85 of Las Cruces, NM passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2013. She was born to Rev. Henry and Jeffie Wright on September 23, 1927 in Sunset, TX. Melba enjoyed reading and music and was a member of the Las Cruces Book Club, a patron of Brannigan Library, and a patron of Las Cruces Symphony Orchestra. She also was an active member of St. James Episcopal Church. Melba married the love of her life Wilfred Schumacher on April 16, 1946 who preceded her in death on June 3, 2009. She is survived by her son, Dr. Bill Schumacher and wife Kay of Las Cruces, NM and daughter Aileen Schumacher and Husband Rick Blum of Newberry, FL. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Dr. Jessica Kyle Schumacher and husband Todd Harper, Jo Schumacher and Husband Beau Roysden, Nicky Blum, and Kevin Blum and wife Melinda. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Words cannot express the gratitude and thankfulness the Schumacher family has for the care given to her by her caregivers Bernadette Ruiz and Shelley Cruz-Solano, the thoughtfulness of Rhonna Conner, the visits from Fr. Don Adamski, Fr. Nick Funk, and the care provided by Theresa Hinojosa of Mesilla Valley Hospice. THANK YOU! A funeral service to celebrate Melba's life will be held at St. James Episcopal Church on Thursday September 19, 2013 at 1:00 pm with Fr. Nick Funk officiating. Melba will rest next to her husband Wilfred at Masonic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Claude Smith, Whit Harvey, Todd Harper, Beau Roysden, Bill Nigh, and Rick Blum. PDF Printable Version
