Michael Zachery Angel

With heavy hearts we announce that our beloved son, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin, and friend, Michael “Mikey” Angel went home to be with the Lord at the age of 26 on the 18th of February 2026 in Las Cruces, NM. Michael was born on the 8 th of November 1999 in Las Cruces, NM. Michael is survived by his Father Gomisindo J Angel (Patsy) of Radium Springs, NM and his mother Cathy Verdugo of Las Cruces, NM. His siblings Jacob Angel (Adrienne), Amber Angel, and Antonio Angel (Reyana). His two nieces Aaliyah Angel and Sofia Angel. His nana Martha Verdugo. As well as beloved family pup Aria. 

Michael attended and graduated from Mayfield High School class of 2018. He worked at Sandoval construction as a driver/operator. Michael had a rare gift for connecting with people. With a heart of gold, he would always put the needs of others before his own. Mikey was a peacemaker who loved enjoying time with family and helping others. His compassion, kindness, and humor filled each and every room he walked into. Michael’s family will forever cherish his smile, generosity, and unwavering loyalty that threaded and bound them together. 

Michael is preceded in death by his grandparents Gomisindo Angel Jr and Jeni Angel of Hatch, NM. His grandfather Antonio Verdugo of Los Lunas, NM. As well as his uncle Michael Verdugo of Hatch, NM. 

Serving as pallbearers will be Michael’s brothers, Jacob Angel and Antonio Angel. Serving alongside the brothers will be Michael’s cousins, Gabriel Flores, Nathaniel Flores, Raymond Farias, Raul Farias, Marcos Herrera-Verdugo, and Javier Herrera. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Indio Banegas, Jimmy Montoya, and Joel Palomarez.

A celebration of life will be held for Michael at Las Cruces First Church, 5605 Bataan Memorial Las Cruces NM 88012 on Friday, March 6, 2026. The Viewing will begin at 2:00pm and Services will follow at 3:00pm-4:00pm. The family encourages attending guests to honor Mikey by wearing his favorite color red.
