Norbert "Bert" Paul Eich

Norbert (Bert) Paul Eich passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at Mountainview Regional Medical Center.

Born in Jersey City New Jersey, Bert’s life took him to New Mexico, Arizona, California, back to New Jersey and finally, back to New Mexico in 1990.

After High School and the Navy Bert met and married his wife Jere and were married in a simple ceremony at her parent’s home. Bert was hired by AT&T where he worked until retirement in December of 1989. He continued to work part time after that, mostly as a tax preparer at H&R Block.

Bert enjoyed traveling in the RV. Every year he and his wife Jere would take their grandkids on multi-week adventures in the RV visiting every state east of the Rockies over approximately 10 years of trips. Fishing was one of his favorite hobbies, taking his son Craig and grandson Alex with him many times. He was an even-tempered man and enjoyed bowling, woodworking, coin collecting, DYI work around the house, working on cars and volunteering, particularly with the Dona Ana Arts Council and their annual Renaissance Fair. Above all he loved spending time with his family.

He was predeceased by his parents, Elizabeth Jacobs Eich and Norbert Josef Eich, and stepmother Elaine D. Jones. Bert will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 62 years Jere (Bloys), his daughter Becky (Eich) and her husband Bruce Baum, son Craig and wife Kathleen, and his two grandchildren, Jackie and Alex Eich.

The services will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at the University United Methodist Church at 10:00 a.m.
