Pat A. Larsen

Patricia (Pat) A. Larsen, 70 long time resident of Las Cruces, NM died Sunday, February 22, 2009 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center. Pat was born March 29, 1938 in Dallas, Texas to Jim and Helen Smith. She is survived by her husband Phillip R. Larsen of Las Cruces, NM; one son, Phillip R. Larsen, Jr. of Houston, TX; two daughters, Marcia Salopek of Las Cruces, NM and Cindi Walker of San Antonio, TX. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Laramie and Travis Salopek, Kellen Walker, Tiffany, Brittany, and Erik Larsen; and three great grandchildren, Shaylie, Bo, and Jason Salopek. Pat was preceded in death by a grandson, Phillip R. Larsen III. Pat met and married her high school sweetheart, Phil, in 1956 in Deming, N.M. following graduation from Las Cruces Union High School. Although, Phil's work took them from Las Cruces she continued her many friendships with those living in the Rio Grande Valley from Clint, TX to Garfield, NM. In 1974, Pat and her family moved to Alaska where she made additional lifetime friends. Pat was a good-hearted woman who was known for her good sense humor, as well as her stubborn will and determination. She had a passion for food, especially chocolate. Pat enjoyed playing golf and bridge and the associations with her friends at Las Cruces Country Club during her 20-year membership. A visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at Getz Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 am on Thursday, February 26, 2009 at Getz Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Norm Story of First Presbyterian Church. At her request, cremation will follow. PDF Printable Version
