Patricia Pearl Fenscey Livingston

Patricia Pearl Fenscey Livingston passed peacefully on October 27th, 2025 at home. She will be missed by her friends and family, including her surviving children, William and Debra, and her sisters, Barbara and Dale.

Born in Windsor, Pennsylvania in 1936 to Allen and Pearl Fenscey, Patricia grew up on a farm, helping to care for her younger brother, Jack. She married James Wade Livingston in 1955. Moving to Berkshire, NY, Patricia was engaged in volunteer work at the Fire Department. She helped on ambulance runs, and served as secretary/treasurer for several years.

The family moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico in 1978. Patricia, James, and their youngest son, James, Jr., lived the rest of their lives in this southwest boarder city. Patricia worked as a Ward Secretary at Memorial General Hospital, and even developed and taught a community college class in being a ward secretary.

She loved growing flowers, bowling, and baking. Her home was often a hot spot for the teens to gather and hang out. They all knew Pat would welcome them, and snacks were plentiful.

When her youngest son, Jim, was shot and suffered a traumatic brain injury, Pat never gave up on him. She taught him everything, from eating to speaking, all over again. They made the garage into a room for Jim, and the doctors and nurses would visit him at home.

As Jim regained his independence, Pat returned to the hospital as a volunteer. She worked in the family waiting room, comforting worried family members. She also helped out in the gift shop and with blood drives. She planned special events for the volunteer group, and organized Tray Savers, which made small crafts to cheer up the patients.

Fiercely independent, Pat lived and cared for herself, even after the death of her husband. When her son, Jim, died in 2023, it was a very hard blow to her. In June of 2025, Pat fell and broke her hip. The hip healed well, but her stay in rehab was lengthened due to several complications. She was sent home in September under the care of her daughter, Debbie, and Enable Hospice.

Instead of flowers, donations to St Jude’s Hospital would be appreciated. It was one of Pat’s favorite charities, and she donated to help the children every year. There will be a small graveside service at a date to be determined later.
