Patricia "Pam" Postlewait (Reed) 81, of Las Cruces New Mexico, passed away November 1, 2019 at La Posada Mesilla Valley Hospice, Las Cruces. She had been fighting extensive small cell lung cancer that was diagnosed in May 2019. Patricia was born May 6, 1938 to James Robert and Wilma Dorothea Mc Camant in Big Spring, Texas. She grew up in El Paso, Texas with her parents and two older sisters; Estella and Louise. The family lived in the Hacienda Heights neighborhood where Patricia attended Crockett Elementary School and Austin High School. She married Richard Edward Kuncel in 1954 in Las Cruces, New Mexico and then moved to Panama City, Florida. They would eventually return to El Paso where they had 4 children; Katherine, Alan, Richard and Pamela. In the 1960s, Patricia attended the University of Texas-El Paso, and became a store clerk that excelled in management positions because of her strong work ethic and leadership. Eventually, she became a commissary clerk at Fort Bliss, Texas, and this was to be the beginning of several government positions that eventually led her to the Logistics Directorate at White Sands Missile Range. All along the way, she received many commendations and awards in the fulfillment of her duties. Patricia divorced her husband in 1967. On August 29, 1975 she married Richard Reed and they lived a good life in Las Cruces that revolved around their extended family, camping trips, and friends at the local Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 6917 where they were both active in the post organization. Richard Reed passed away February 20, 2000. On October 1, 2004, Patricia would marry Chief Glen Postlewait in a joyous ceremony and celebration with family and friends that was held at VFW Post 6917. Sadly, Glen passed away the following year on May 9, 2005. After Glen's passing, Patricia took time to travel with her sisters to places all over the world that she'd never seen before, and became a regular visitor to the Santa Fe Opera. The opera must have inspired her to plunge into her favorite hobby of all time: Karaoke. She could be found singing her favorite songs all over town at the Elks and Moose Lodges, VFW posts, and karaoke house parties with her friends. It was the most important thing in her life, complete with her own personal karaoke machine and wireless microphone. Recently, Patricia had become a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and as a young woman was active in the Daughters of Job and Rainbow Girls. She was also a member of the Military Order of the Cootie. She is survived by her son Alan Kuncel, Las Cruces, NM. Sisters Estella M. Levy, El Paso, TX and Louise Cundy, San Bernadino, CA. Nieces Estella L. Levy and Cherie Steeman. Nephews Bill Levy, Tom Levy and Bob Cundy. Patricia has 7 grandchildren that survive her and many great grandchildren and extended family members. Services are pending for internment at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery.
