Radford Roland Hutcheson

Radford Hutcheson, 100, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2026, after a long and full life devoted to his faith, his family, and service to others.

Born July 8, 1926, in Farmersville, Texas, Radford grew up during the Great Depression, spending his early years on farms in Oklahoma. His childhood was shaped by hard work, family, and faith. His life would take him across much of the country and eventually lead him to New Mexico, where he made his home for many years.

At age 18, Radford enlisted in the United States Army during World War II. He served in the Philippines and Korea and rose to the rank of Master Sergeant at just 19 years old. His military service was an important part of his life and reflected the dedication and determination that would characterize him throughout the years.

Radford’s deepest calling was to ministry. After answering that call in 1948, he devoted decades to serving Baptist churches throughout New Mexico and Texas. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Eastern New Mexico University and later received degrees from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary. He served as a pastor and, for 16 years, as Director of Missions for the Rio Grande and Southwestern Baptist Associations, ministering to churches and communities throughout southwestern New Mexico.

Radford’s faith remained at the center of his life. Even after retirement, he continued serving as an interim pastor and remained committed to encouraging others through his faith and ministry.

He was married to Hildreth Osborn Hutcheson for 62 years. Together they raised their family and shared a life centered around faith, service, and family. After Hildreth’s passing in 2008, Radford later found love again with Virginia "Jenny" Burress, whom he married in 2009.

Radford leaves behind a legacy that extends through generations. He is survived by his son, David Hutcheson and his wife, Clair, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry his memory forward.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wives, Hildreth Hutcheson and Jenny Hutcheson; and his children, Linda Dalley and Allan Hutcheson.

Radford lived a remarkable 100 years—a life filled with faith, family, service, perseverance, and countless experiences that he thoughtfully recorded so that future generations would know the story of the man who came before them. His life was truly a long and meaningful one, and his legacy will live on in the family and faith he leaves behind.
