In Loving Memory of Ralph B. Gonzales
Born March 5, 1941 - Passed into Eternal Life on October 27, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ralph B. Gonzales on October 27, 2025, at the age of 84, surrounded by family as he entered eternal rest. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Ralph was born on March 5, 1941, in Luis Lopez, New Mexico, to Ciriaco M. Gonzales and Ramona B. Gonzales. He grew up on the family farm in Luis Lopez, where he learned the values of faith, hard work, and family that would guide him throughout his life.
He proudly served in the Army National Guard from 1960 to 1966 and 1964 began a long career with the New Mexico State Highway Department, where he worked for 25 years. Ralph retired as a Project Manager Ill (Resident Engineer). After retirement, he joined his son and co-founded R2 Contractor Specialty, Inc.
Ralph married the love of his life, Leslie Valles, on August 17, 1963. Though their time together on earth was not as long as he wished, he carried her memory with him always.
Ralph loved the outdoors and had a lifelong passion for hunting, fishing, camping, and shooting. He also had a special love for classic cars, especially his prized 1958 Impala. Above all, he cherished spending time with his family and sharing stories that reflected his humor, warmth, and wisdom.
He is survived by his son, Rick (Mickey), his daughters, Denise (Orlando) and Jeannette (Ray); and his brother, Edwin. He was a proud grandfather to Jeremy (Fallon), Kassandra, Zack (Savannah), Ashley (Craig), Alyssa (Alex), Ray, Journey (Cole), and Matteo. He is also survived by his cherished great-grandchildren: Jace, River, Silas, and Willow, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Leslie, whom he deeply loved and whose memory remained with him always; his parents, Ciriaco and Ramona; and his siblings, Ciriaco Gonzales, Josie Chavez, and Amy Larson.
His presence remains in every memory, every story shared, and every lesson passed down. His legacy lives on in the faces and hearts of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren - each a reflection of his spirit.
A Rosary will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, located at 3600 Paroquia Street, Las Cruces, New Mexico, with a reception to follow. A private burial with family will be held the following day.
