Obituary for Reymundo H. “Reymond” Ramirez August 10, 1951 – December 3, 2025
Reymundo H. Ramirez, lovingly known as Reymond, passed away on December 3, 2025, at Three Crosses Regional Hospital in Las Cruces, New Mexico, the city where he was born, raised, and lived his entire life. Born on August 10, 1951, to Josephine Herrera Ramirez and Jose Ramirez,
While attending Las Cruces High School he was proud to be a Bulldawg, he was a devoted member of the Showcase Band, where he discovered a lifelong love for music. He continued sharing his talent into young adulthood, playing saxophone in various community bands. His passion for learning led him to New Mexico State University, where he earned an associate degree in electronics technology and later a bachelor’s degree in information and communication technology. He was a proud AGGIE and did his best to attend basketball and football games where he always stood up chanting the fight song with spunk and pride!
Reymond loved the simple joys of life, fishing at every chance he got and RVing whenever the opportunity arose. After the passing of his beloved wife of 50 years, Josefina R. Ramirez, in 2022, he found renewed purpose serving his community through Meals on Wheels with the City of Las Cruces. He often spoke about how meaningful and fulfilling this work was to him, as it allowed him to give back with compassion and dignity.
Of all his roles, being “Grandpa” was the one he cherished most. His grandchildren, Jayden R. Ramirez (16) and Isabella J. Chavez (14), were the light of his final years. He faithfully drove them to and from school, spent days fishing with Jayden, and loved tossing a basketball around with Isabella. His greatest joy came from cheering on Jayden at the OMHS football games and traveling near and far to proudly watch Isabella perform with the Showcase Band.
Reymond loved his children deeply and spoke of them proudly to anyone who would listen. He is survived by his son, Rey C. Ramirez, and his daughter, Evelyn Ramirez Gibson, and her husband, Joshua, all of Las Cruces. He is also survived by two sisters, Juanita Archuleta and Eva Cordova and one brother Tony Ramirez of Las Cruces. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, humility, and the many skills he passed on to his children and grandchildren.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Reymond touched countless lives with his kindness and quiet generosity. Though he will be missed beyond measure, we take comfort in knowing he is reunited with the love of his life, Josefina, and is now resting peacefully.
We invite all who knew and loved him to join us in celebrating his life. A Mass will be held on December 16, 2025, at 6:00 PM at Getz Funeral Home, followed by burial on December 17, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
May his memory be a blessing, and may his legacy live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
