Richard Taylor, beloved father, grandfather, husband, uncle, and friend, passed away in Las Cruces, New Mexico on August 6, 2025.
Richard was born in Maryland on December 4,1943 and raised in West Virginia by his parents Roy and Ethel (nee Friel) Taylor. An enthusiastic Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeye fan, he built his life in Lorain, Ohio as a devoted husband, father, uncle, and steelworker. He deeply enjoyed life and spent time fishing, playing golf, model shipbuilding, and collecting and repairing watches. Richard was a car aficionado and visited car shows with his Mustang, the Sally Ann. A sharp dresser, and good dancer, he could be found enjoying live music and the dance floor.
After his wife of fifty years, Linda Taylor (nee Skinner), died in 2017 he spent time living with his son, Eric, and his family in Milwaukie, Oregon. In 2019 he met his second wife, Maria Taylor (nee Batka). Richard had long dreamed of living in Las Cruces, New Mexico, so he and Maria made Las Cruces their home in 2021.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Linda Taylor. He is survived by his son, Eric (Minta) Taylor, his grandchildren Audrey and Warren Taylor, his second wife, Maria Taylor, and nieces and nephews. He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, joyful spirit, and the deep love he held for his family.
