Robert Gene Lofgren was called home on December 20, 2025, after a long decline with Alzheimer’s disease. Born on February 18, 1932, in Aitkin, Minnesota, to William Eric Lofgren and Olga Augusta Paulson, he was the seventh of nine children.
After High School he joined the Navy in 1950. He took pride that he served his country and was he stationed overseas for more than two years; his favorite location was French Morocco. After the Navy he started his USPS career working on the Railroad delivery through North Dakota.
He met and married the love of his life, Patricia Symalla, on May 19, 1956. They welcomed two children, a son and daughter. In 1970 they moved their family to Evergreen, Colorado where they stayed for over 25 years before retiring to New Mexico.
He moved his USPS career with him from Minnesota to Arvada, Colorado where he stayed until he retired in 1991 with over 35 years of service. He was proud of his work and the 35 years of Safe Driving awards under his belt.
A fun and friendly man who loved a good joke, he always had a smile on his face and a pipe in his mouth. His many hobbies and interests kept him busy, from woodworking, skiing, golfing, hiking, square dancing and weekend card games with friends to name a few. But the thing he most treasured was his granddaughters, they were the apple of his eye and his pride and joy.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia, his parents and siblings. He is survived by his children, son Robert and daughter Michielle, granddaughters, Ashley, Megan, Mandy and Luci, and his great grandson, Elias who is due to arrive in January.
