Ronald Lee Atencio

Ronald Lee Atencio (Teddy) Left this world on July 2, 2026, surround by his family as he entered the kingdom of his Savior Jesus Christ.

Born on June 11,1957 in Grand Junction, Colorado to Orlando Atencio and Dorothy Vigil, second child of five children. Her was raised in La Boca, Colorado and Durango Colorado. Attending schools in Durango. Then enlisting into the United States Army.

Ronald was married three times with two daughters from his first two marriages. Then marrying his wife of 46 years Vickie Tucson. They were blessed with four beautiful babies. Ron worked many jobs from Sawmill, construction, bus driver for PMS Headstart, janitor, teacher’s aide. He spent his younger years keeping his children active in sports. Later in life he became a USA amateur boxing official for 11th Street Gym. Then becoming a USA amateur boxing coach and running his gym, called La Familia Boxing club out Farmington NM. He loved fishing, camping, and watching his favorite football team Las Vegas Raiders. He was so excited when he got to see the Colorado Rockies play. He loved WWE wrestling, even getting to go watch them, when they came to El Paso, Texas and Las Cruces, New Mexico. Most of all he loved time with his family.

Ronald is survived by his wife Vickie Atencio, son Patrick Atencio (TK) Atencio, daughter Brandy Atencio all from Anthony NM. Daughter Krysta Atencio of Durango, Co. Daughter Angela Atencio Torres (Rosie) of Bakersfield CA. His grandchildren Mickey Shamey, Darrius Daniels (Summer), Kyeran Daniels, Nevaeh Atencio, Nia Atencio (Alex), Santianna Atencio, Orlando Atencio Jr, Faizon Mitchell, Janarion, Lazariah, Faith Atencio, Levi, Patrick, and Jordan Bartley Atencio, Adriana Bartley, Aleashea and Devon Prescott, Mariah (Ricky Evans), Eric (Aslynn) McKethan, Robert, Aroya, and Nina Martinez. His great grandchildren who he took pride in each one Katalaya, Alana, Camilla Shamey, Luna, Sakani, Levi Atencio, Marcus Daniels, Ashanti Edwards. He also leaves his brother Tony (Lori) Atencio and sister-in-law Annie Atencio. Many Tio’s, Tia’s, nieces, nephews and many cousins.

He is preceded in death by his sons Orlando Atencio Sr and Dominick Atencio his parents Orlando Atencio, Dorothy Atencio Martinez, his in laws Levi Tucson, Cecilia Tucson Caraveo, his brothers Leonel and Michael Atencio, and twin siblings. With many more family members.

Services are scheduled for 11am on August 15, 2026, at First Baptist Church Anthony, 201 Lincoln Street Anthony, NM 88021. With Pastor Hector Aguilar officiating.

He will be taken home to Ignacio, Colorado. To be laid to rest with his sons and family at a later date.
