Rosemary Guerra-Mesa passed away peacefully on August 6, 2025. She was 87 years old. Rosemary was born on March 8, 1938, to Mike Guerra and Inez Garcia-Guerra of Dona Ana County. She was raised in a loving family with her five siblings and went on to graduate from Holy Cross, where she proudly played on the girls’ basketball team, an early sign of her strength and determination. She married Benjamin Mirabal Chavez, and together they welcomed three children: Deborah Klohr, Denise Vasquez, and Benjamin Isaac Chavez. After Benjamin’s passing, Rosemary later married Henry Mesa, and their family grew to include Kimberly McNally, Beverly Mesa-Zendt, Elizabeth Mesa-Lentz, and Patricia Cole. She leaves behind a lasting legacy through her fifteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Rosemary had a marvelous green thumb and created a garden oasis wherever she lived. She loved playing cards and often played with family and friends. She was known for her spicy personality and her spicy red chili, which kept us all coming back for more. Rosemary is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Benjamin Mirabal Chavez, her beloved son, John Henry Mesa, and many cherished family members. She is survived by her two brothers, Mike Guerra and David Guerra, and her three sisters, Martha Romero, Dolores Berg, and Irma Siegmund, as well as a large extended family who will deeply miss her presence.

A service to celebrate Rosemary’s life will be held on August 22, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Getz Funeral Home, Family and friends are warmly invited to attend. Rosemary’s strength and free-spiritedness will be remembered fondly by all those whose lives she touched.
