Our wonderful grandmother, Rosie Pacheco, 85, passed away peacefully at Mesilla Valley Hospice on February 18, 2023. She was born to Cesario Pacheco and Petra Pacheco in Las Cruces, New Mexico on June 16, 1937. She is preceded in death by her siblings Cesario Pacheco Jr., Reinaldo Pacheco, and Estella Pacheco; her children Sally Espinoza and Florentino Avalos Jr; and her granddaughter Valerie Ann Marie Silva. She is survived by her daughter Brenda Alvarez, her grandkids Shantel Alvarez, Adrian Alvarez, Marcos Alvarez, Oscar Alvarez, Christopher Alvarez, Priscilla Aragon, and Christina Avalos. She also loved her many great grand children, nephews, and nieces. Rosie's parents placed roots in the late 1920's in Rincon, New Mexico. Her father worked along the Santa Fe railroad and her mother was a homemaker. Rosie received her education at the old Rincon School. She worked in seasonal agriculture around Hatch, NM. She cherished Rincon and walking around the neighborhood to talk to her childhood friends. Our grandmother was the epitome of laughter. Lovingly, she recited her childhood stories to us with her sharp wit and gentle eyes entrapping us in simpler times. Rosie's sense of humor was unmatched by the people who knew and cared for her. She was a feisty woman and would not back down from a fight. She roasted her daughters and grandkids equally. If her humor was a measure of her love, we were loved unconditionally. Her love of spicy food and sweet treats was unrivaled. Regularly, she would ask for her chips, cookies, diet coke, burritos, red enchiladas, and menudo. Her preferred cuisine gave tribute to her Mexican roots. Casa Del Sol in Las Cruces, New Mexico was a second home to Rosie. We have gratitude for the nurses, caretakers, friends, and lunch ladies that cared, cooked for, and played Bingo with our grandmother in her last months. Our grandmother's gutsy humor, laughter, smile, and most of all, her love will be missed. We will celebrate our grandmother one last time on February 28, 2023, at the Our Lady of All Nations Catholic Church in Rincon, NM from 9:30- 11:30 AM. First Visitation
