Roy Bertil Falck, age 86, passed away at home in Las Cruces, NM on May 6, 2026. Roy was born In Hackensack, NJ to Bertil and Elsa (nee Engberg) Falck. His parents were both born in Sweden in the early years of the 20th century and emigrated to the United States a few decades later. Roy spent time in Sweden over the years as several of his relatives remained there. The family moved to Needham, MA when Roy was about 6 and he proved to be an excellent student, graduating from Needham High School in 1958, and receiving a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from the University of Massachusetts and a Master of Business Administration from West Coast University in California. He spent his business career in finance and accounting.
He served in the United States Army 1961-64, and while serving in France, received the Army Commendation Medal for his work as Chief, Ledgers and Reports Section, Accounting Branch, 27th Finance Disbursing Section, Ingrandes, France.
Roy volunteered for the Hospital Auxiliary in Las Cruces, NM and was also a Volunteer at the Mesilla Valley Film Society which hosts films at the historic Fountain Theater, in Mesilla, NM. As a young man one of his passions was running. He enjoyed jazz, movies, visiting museums, sightseeing, and was a friend to many.
Roy was an avid bridge player and longtime member of the American Contract Bridge League and reached the rank of Ruby Master, a rare achievement in the bridge world which signifies winning over 4,000 Masterpoints. He was a beloved member of ACBL Unit 380 here in Las Cruces, where he also served as a Director for a number of years.
