Ruth Elaine "Dolly" Kiourkas passed from this earthly life to her Heavenly Home on Sunday, Aug. 24, 2008. Having lost her beloved husband of 66 years, Jimmie, three weeks ago, Dolly has now joined him. Born in Bonners Ferry, Idaho to Jim and Peggy (Mathisen) Conedis on Feb. 20, 1923, Dolly spent her young life in the Pacific Northwest. Jimmie and Dolly were married on March 9, 1942. After returning from service in World War II, Jim and Dolly were transferred numerous times with American Stores. Dolly was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. In Spokane, WA, she was employed by the Spokane School District and volunteered her time and talents to charitable organizations wherever they lived. One of her special interests was her volunteer work at Craig Rehabilitation Hospital in Denver. CO. After retiring in Las Cruces, Dolly spent her time participating in the activities of Peace Lutheran church, PEO-Chapter BF, and the Macular Degeneration Support Group at Munson Senior Center. Her hobbies included gardening, fishing, cooking and decorating. Survivors include; Daughters Sharie Behrens and husband John; Cheryl R. Ethridge; Grandchildren; Marci, Kirk and Stephanie, and Eric Behrens; Karey and Chuck Mitchell; and James and Alisa Ethridge. Great-grandchildren Kelsey and Kylie Mitchell; Christopher, Nicholas and Matthew Behrens; and Ava and Diana Ethridge. Memorial Services celebrating Dolly's life will be held at Peace Lutheran Church, 1701 E. Missouri, Las Cruces, NM on Saturday, September 6, 2008 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Paul Miller officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Peace Lutheran Church's Remodeling Fund, or a charity of choice. PDF Printable Version
