Santiago 'Jimmy' Sanchez

Santiago "Jimmy" Sanchez entered eternal rest on Friday, May 9, 2014 at the age of 43. Santiago was born in Las Cruces to Richardo and Maria Sanchez. He was raised in Las Cruces and spent the rest of his life in Las Cruces where he raised his children. He enjoyed coaching and, playing baseball, and teaching others. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan; he enjoyed watching the games with his children. Santiago has a big heart and enjoyed helping others. He worked very hard and enjoyed working; he was a jack of all trades. He mentored many. He also enjoyed fishing and drinking a beer with family and friends. He also loved spending time in Silver City at Bar-D ranch with his wife. Santiago is survived by his mother Maria Sanchez of Tortugas, His wife Patricia Sanchez of the family home, six children: Arthur Sanchez of Phoenix, AZ, Robert (Tiffany) Sanchez of Deming, NM, Isaac Ligarette Sanchez of Las Cruces, Melinda (Anthony) Sanchez of Las Cruces, Mark (Monique) Sanchez of Las Cruces, Santiago Sanchez Jr. of Las Cruces; five step-children: Jeramy ( Frankie) Artiaga from Silver City, Teresa Arizaga from Silver City, Katherine Ramirez of Silver City, Jessie Ramirez from Las Cruces, Azaria Davalos of Silver City; four brothers: Richardo Sanchez of Las Cruces, Joe Sanchez (Clara) of Las Cruces, Manny Sanchez of Santa Fe, Esteban Sanchez of Las Cruces; five sisters: Lupe (Chris) Ford of T or C, Ester Sanchez of Las Cruces, Rose Asamoah of Rio Rancho, Beatrice (Michael) Lopez of Rio Rancho, and Mary Sanchez of Las Cruces; three grandchildren: Elizabeth Sanchez, Vince Arizaga, and Riley Artiaga. Also surviving him are numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Richardo Sanchez and brother Robert and Lorenzo Sanchez. Santiago was loved and adored my many and will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 18, 2014 from 5 to 6 PM at Getz Funeral Home Chapel followed by a rosary at 6 PM. The funeral mass will be on Monday, May 19, 2014 at 10 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine and Parish with Fr. Vincent Petersen officiating. Pallbearers will be Robert Sanchez, Adrian Lopez, Alex Alvarez, Melinda Sanchez, Isaac Ligaretta Sanchez, Jessie Ramirez, Danny, and Steve Sanchez.
